Maj. W.R. Morse, S.A. Comr. - James H. Jamieson was a Capt. in the late C.S.A. died during the war. After diligent enquiry I ascertained that his widow and Daniel J. Payne, administrator of the estate were living at Bowenville, Fauquier Co. Va. and from them I succeeded in obtaining the information that James William Jackson, was during the war at Lynchburg, Va. Employer not known and at the close of the war went to Alabama in charge, with other colored people, of Confederate horses, this is all that is known about him - Robert Jackson was in the division of Mrs H.M. Bowen's estate allotted to James W. Field of Hopkinsville Kentucky & was by them taken to that place where it is supposed he may now be found. No further information can be furnished from this office as to the whereabouts at present of these children - I am satisfied that they are not within the limits of my Division. (Sgd.) W.A.
