Dear Sir, at a meeting of the board of overseers of the County of Hanover, on the first of April after an examination of the funds and the number of paupers there we find ourselves unable to feed & clothe and bed them comfortably, and having a large number of colored persons also to provide for, and the high prices of provisions, we have concluded to request you to assist in this charitable institution, we have many here who are subjects for hospital, more than a County Poorhouse.

Since the within application was made, one of the persons has died; - [[strikethrough]] Another [[/strikethrough]] who is subject to fits, has been severely burned, having fallen into the fire during one of those spells. - The County authorities are not able to furnish these helpless people the necessary care and medical attention, to say nothing of food, clothing, beds, and bedding.

From what I can learn the boy is well treated and has a good home, he receives $4.00 pr. month. is well satisfied, and refuses to leave Mister Taylor.
