O. Brown, Asst Comr Va. calling his attention to the within communication informing him that Dr. Schaufflers duties are entirely distinct from those of A. A. Surg. E. R. Carey - Dr. Schauffler not being in any respect under the orders of Dr E.R. Carey - Stating further that there is no necessity for four horses at the Hampton Hospital, & respectfully requesting that the horse formerly in the use of Dr. Ed. W. Schauffler may be again ordered into his sole possession - as an absolute necessity to the proper discharge of his duties over a large extent of country - and suggesting further that two horses are all that are necessary if good ones at Hampton Hospital and that one besides the one to be used by Dr. Ed.
