Benjamin Anderson, Pvt Co., C 23 Reg't U.S.C. Troops was born in Daviss Co., Ky, was enlisted the 17 day of August, 1864, at Evansville Ia, by Capt Wartman, and was mustered in the 20 day of August, 1864, at Indianapolis Ia, by Lt Fletcher, for 3 years.   
  
At the time of enlistment he was 34 years old, and 5 feet 7½ inches high, Black complexion, Black eyes, Black hair, and by occupation a Laborer.  He [[strikethrough]] was discharged (or [[/strikethrough]] died) 21 day of March, 1865, at Chapins Farm Va. Capt Hoover was commanding officer, and Samuel Gates first sergeant at time of soldier's death. [[strikethrough]] The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about the same time and place:_________ enlisted_________ day of __________186, and ________ enlisted_________ day of __________186 . Joined as an unassigned Recruit. 28. U.S.C.T. and transferred to Co. "C" 23" U.S.C.T. Oct 19". 1864.

On Mr. Rolls from Augst. 31/64. To Feby 28/65 he is reported Present for duty.
March & April /65.  "Died."
