NARA1025 (FORM 24.) Charles Draine Private Co., "D", 51st Reg't U.S.C. Troops was born in Lancaster Co., Virginia, was enlisted the 17th day of July, 1863, at Canton, Miss., by Maj. J.E. Bryant, and was mustered in the 28th day of July, 1863, at Millikin's Bend, La, by Capt. Ferguson, for 3 years. At the time of enlistment he was 38 years old, and 5 feet 6 1/2 inches high, Negro complexion, Hazel eyes, Black hair, and by occupation a Farmer. He [[strikethrough]] was discharged (or [[/strikethrough]] died) 14th day of September, 1863, at Goodrich's Landing, La. Capt. O.D. Lemert was commanding officer, and Josiah Knodle first sergeant at time of soldier's death.
