John Blake, Private Co., "H," 52nd Reg't U.S.C. Troops was born in Madison Co., Miss., was enlisted the 5th day of October, 1863, at Camp Hope, Miss., by Capt. Gosnell, and was mustered in the 14th day of October, 1863, at Vicksburg, Miss., by Capt. Ide, for 3 years.  
At the time of enlistment he was 27 years old, and 5 feet and 7 inches high, Dark complexion, Black eyes, Black hair, and by occupation a Field Hand. He [[strikethrough]] was discharged (or [[/strikethrough]] died) 1st day of February, 1864, at Camp Hibben near Vicksburg, Miss. Capt. Peter J. Gosnell was commanding officer, and Minion Knox first duty sergeant at time of soldier's death. [[strikethrough]] The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about the same time and place:   enlisted   day of   186 , and   enlisted   day of   186 .
