NARA 1297 [FORM 35.] Case of Sarah Lyle widow of Thomas Ellis Pvt, Co B; 121 Regiment of U.S.C T. settled by Treasury Certificate No. 622.846 Please furnish any information the papers afford, upon which the above settlement was made, that will assist in the identification of the claimant. The name of the Sub-Agent or Attorney is of value. Respectfully, Jas McMillan Capt. 3d Art'y, Chief D.O. WAR DEPARTMENT, ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE, August 19, 1875 [REPLY.] It is stated in the application upon which the settlement referred to above was made that the soldier died at Camp Nelson, Ky on or about the - day of May or June, 1865, that her maiden name was Sarah Hayes, that she was married to said Thos. Ellis on or about the - day of Dec 1847 at Lexington, Kentucky, by one Christopher Brand, a Methodist Preacher. Respectfully, E. B. French Second Auditor.
