Louis Populus, Corporal Co., "B" 73rd Reg't U.S.C. Troops was born in no record, was enlisted the 3rd day of September, 1862, at New Orleans La, by Ernest Dumas and was mustered in the 27th day of September, 1862, at New Orleans La, by Major Giddings, for 3 years. 

At the time of enlistment he was 21 years old, and no record feet no record inches high, no record complexion, no record eyes, no record hair, and by occupation a no record. He [[strikethrough]] was discharged (or [[/strikethrough]] died) 16th day of October, 1863, at Port Hudson La

Captain Louis A. Snaer was commanding officer, and Zénon Faustin first sergeant at time of soldier's death.
