This Indenture made this fifteenth day of January, A.D. 1869.  Witnesseth: that William Arnold hath rented unto Bvt. Lieut. Col. S.P. Lee, Capt. 48th U.S. Infantry, for and in behalf of the Freedmen's Bureau in the City of Alexandria, Va, a certain room situated on corner of Royal and King Streets, for the period of one month, with the privilege of retaining the same for one year, for the sum of twelve dollars and fifty cents ($12.50/100) per month, and the same to be used for an office.

The occupancy of said office by said Bureau is to date from February 1st 1869.
