Samuel D Pigeon Post address Wadesville Clark Co Va
Dr William McGinnis (whos Post address is Berryville Clark Co Va) have been recognized as good loyal men by those that I know to be such. but as I am not personaly acquainted with them and know nothing of their history I cannot vouch for them but think I am safe in saying that they were at least conservative respecting the secession movement. The first five I am acquainted and know them to be what I represent. Mr Wright I am not acquainted with but his record is such that his loyalty and devotion to the US Government is beyond a doubt. Mr Richmond voted for the ordinance of secession but that knew him best at that time states that he done it more for his Brothers sake than from any inclination of his own, and will state that his recruit as a union man is of the first Class as soon as the Union forces came into the County he volunteered his services as a scout and was employed as such during the entire war, has been a resident of the county since 1856. Mr. Nichols has been a resident of the county since 1865 having moved in since the War was formerly an officer in the Union Army Mr Brumby is one of the bastions of the County is an Resident and considered one of the first men of the County was one the few who voted against secession, Mr Beemer Boxwell and I believe Mr Pigeon was Refugeed from the County during its war on account of there devotion to the union Cause
