Bank New Orleans La in your favor for $ 281 30/100 this being the amount of funds sent me to pay the claim of Henry Clay late Pvt. Co F. 96 C.T.

In compliance with circular from the War Dept. A.G.O. dated Feb 5. 73. I have the honor to transmit herewith the following Certif. of Dep in the 1st. Nat Bank Memphis Tennessee dated May 20, 1873  
No 5129 for 223 03/00 this being the amt of the claim of William Davis late Pvt. Co. G. 3 H.A. as per Treas. Certif. No 491094 less Atty & Notarial fees.

No 5130 for $232 13/00 this being the [[illegible]]

This is page 140 and page 141. ---------- Reopened for Editing 2024-12-01 10:24:03 -USCT rather than USCO. This writer's capital T's and F's are so loopy that they look like capital O's. As examples, look at the words To, Treas and Through in the address block of the final entry. -corrected to the number 9 rather than lower case "g" in two places. This writer's 9's look like g's because they drop below the line. -Henry Clay is "late Pvt. Co F. 96 C.T." ,not "Co 3 g6 CO" Companies were indicated by letters and regiments by numbers. The writer appears to have written "3" for the company by mistake, then overwrote in heavier ink the letter "F".
