seen that disbursing officers are directed to pay all these accounts "in current funds, and not in checks or drafts." If this section is not modified in some way so that such payments may be made by checks on the Depository here, it will be necessary for me to draw out at least $20,000 in notes of various denominations to carry around with me, as the claimants are so scattered about that it is impossible to tell with any degree of certainty what amount will be needed at any one point, the claimants changing their places of residence so frequently that the addresses furnished in the lists of the C.D. Officer are of but little value in determining their actual abiding places. 
If currency must be taken I would request authority to forward it by Express to the various points believing that to be a much safer place than to carry it myself.
