84 Nashville Tenn. May 26, 1874. Maj. Geo. Gibson 5th Inf. Memphis Tenn. Sir I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 23d inst. and your telegram of the 24th also the official copy of the same. The train arrives from your place at 5.15 A.M. so you would be enabled to pay here from an early hour on Monday June 22nd and we could then leave at 6.20 P.M. the same day for Pulaski where we would arrive about 10. P.M. and be on hand to pay there early the following morning the 23d, and we could then leave for home some time in the evening. From there you could reach Memphis by way of Decatur Ala. or return via. Nashville. You could ascertain at your place or at Pulaski which would be the quickest route. I will have the accounts in readiness for the claimants to make their marks so the only delay will be in checking off the "confidential list." If you do not send me a dispatch to the contrary I will then notify claimants to "put in an appearance" at Nashville & Pulaski on the 22nd & 23d of June, respectively. Major La Motte is but little better. I sat up with him last night and it will be necessary to have some one with him at night. Very respectfully, Your obd't servt.
