I have the honor to respectfully state that I have this day purchased the following articles of furniture to be used in this office, viz: six (6) chairs; one (1) office chair; one (1) writing desk; one (1) table; one (1) broom; Drayage in all, amounting to thirty seven Dollars
All the furniture used here is brought from the North and hence the prices are very high.

I have the honor to respectfully ask for information in regard to paying the following claim which was presented to me this day. Voucher no 281886 having passed the Second Auditor office Treasury Department, December 22, 1866 in favor of Robert Matthew dec'd private of co H. 6th Regt. U.S.C.H.A. for pay from the U.S. from May 1. 1864 to July 15. 1864, amounting to One hundred and sixty eight 53/100 ($168.53) Dolls. and ordered to be paid  to Mary Matthews of Miss, mother of dec'd, by any Pay master of the Army in the district of the claimants residence
