Felt somewhat "heavy" today. Morning a certain Mr. Fritz Hiller assistant of Erdmann came with card of introduction from the latter and from [[Grieff?]]. Typical young German "Herr Professor". Stayed for lunch then left about 2 P.M. [[margin - Prof Erdmann sends another priggish German professor to me]] Afternoon worked on auto putting oiling system in good condition. Hot and greasy work. Afterwards decided that "knocking" was caused by worn motor bearings. Hot sultry day. [[end page]] [[start page]] 115 Aug 18. A fine day. Concluded to take a restful day. Spent morning and largest half of afternoon in reading. Then wrote some letters. In the afternoon Lewis took motor apart and found a much worn bearing on front cylinder Aug 19. Spent a full day with Lewis demounting engine. Hot and greasy work. Aug 20. A hazy foggy day. Started writing some letters. Had to admonish George and family for spending ten dollars for lumber. Told him I would pay five and he could earn remaining five by doing some weeding in garden. [[end page]]
