New Haven August 24th 1838.

My Dear Friend,

I have a request to make of you to see Mr Oakley for me if you are acquainted with him he is an [amateur] painter and I believe a member of your Academy. and I therefore presume that you may be acquainted with him. If [strikethrough] you are acquainted with him you will very much oblige me my calling on him and requesting him to return a picture that he borrowed of uncle [Allston]. My uncle has written that he is in great want of the picute and would like to have it immediately. and as I do not know Mr. Oakley's Christian name I am obliged to trouble you in this business. Yours most truly

George W. Flagg.
