[[preprinted]]FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 1865.[[/preprinted]]
Left Newport in Sunbeam and after a delightful sail of six hours arrived at [[stricken]]Newport[[/stricken]]Providence in time to go out with the horse cars to the village of only 3 miles off to examine a fog signal called a steam gong. Returned to Providence the same night and found on looking over the newspaper next morning at the hotel where we slept that our arrival had been announced.
