This Indenture  made the 9th day of March Between Charles Paine & Samuel Hamner Overseers of the poor for the first district of Charlotte County of the one part and William W Davidson of the same county of the other part. Witnesseth that Whatever the Court of the said County by their order bearing date the 1st day of February 1819 did order and direct the said Overseer to bind out Amy Menice, a free mulatto, agreeably to an act of assembly in that case made and provided:  The said overseers have therefore by these presents placed and bound the said Amey Menice to the aforesaid William W Davidson untill the said Amey Menice hath attained the age of Twenty One years during which term, the said apprentice shall her said master faithfully serve, and shall conduct herself as a good and faithful apprentice:  The said William W Davidson on his part doth Covenant to teach, or cause to be taught the said Amey Menice the art, Trade and mystery of spinning sewing, weaving &c, shall find and provide for the said apprentice good and wholesome diet, lodging, and clothing, fit and proper for such an apprentice, and shall at the end of the term pay to said Amey Menice her legal freedom dues.
