Tiffany, of Davenport, has seen [[underline]] Phytocoris pusio [[/underline]] n. sp puncturing a ^ [[insertion]] pale green [[/insertion]] [Plant?] louse that was locomotive on Maple & sucking him dry. Thought before that he sucked larvae of [[underline]] Lecanium acericola. [[/underline]]
Young ^ [[insertion]] transparent [[/insertion]] scales of [[underline]] Lecanium aceris [[/underline]] ^ [[insertion]] on Maple-leaves [[/insertion]] have a pale-colored [[underline]] legged [[/underline]] [[strikethrough]] & [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] & [[underline]] antennaed[[/underline]] [[strikethrough]] louse [[/strikethrough]] ^ [[insertion]] larva ( [[male symbol]] Lecanium) [[/insertion]] under them??? Some a black pupa: {Coccophagus? yellow scutel. Chalcidous. [[strikethrough]] " or Leucopis [[/strikethrough]] [One shell bored [[image]]
Aug 17. Larva of Lec. aceris mostly now like Westw. II. p. 443 fig 19, but [[underline]] no tails. [[/underline]]

[[male symbol]] [[underline]] Lecanium acericola [[/underline]] under a scale on leaf. ^ [[insertion]] Pale tawny [[/insertion]] ant. 9-jd. ^ [[insertion]] finely pilose [[/insertion]] jt. 3 the longest; 4 - 9 indistinct: 2 short; 1 robust. Eyes black, facial [[image]] above base of antennae Wing [[image]] (fold besides, .....) Tail [[image, labeled: penis?]] (2 ^ [[insertion]] white [[insertion]] setae, longer than body) which grow gradually after change to imago. [[image]] split at [[underline]] tail [[/underline]] (not [[underline]] head [[/underline[[) end of shield. Pupa [[male symbol]] under shield; so imago [[male symbol]]; projects behind its setae from [[image]] under shield. Hence easily found.
Larvae almost always (when on leaves) by side of veins or ribs.
Some [[female symbol]] on leaves; no [[male symbol]] seen on twigs; [[female symbol]] now mostly locomotive still.
Larvae mostly (not all) on lower face of leaves.
