Keeler, Inyo County, Cal.
I returned from Willow Cr. Camp to-day by the same trail on which I went there.
Altitude reading Willow Cr. Camp 8475 = 6400 ft. = 1950 m.
" " Will Cañon Divide 7725 = 5650 ft. = 1720 m
" " summit east of Yucca Valley 8400 = 6300 ft. = 1920 m.
" " spring 8 miles from camp 7750 = 5600ft. = 1705m.
" " Yucca Valley 7525 = 5400ft. = 1645m.
" " lower piñon, north slope Cerro Gordo 8100 = 5950ft. = 1815m.
" " crossing of Darwin-Cerro Gordo trail 9250 = 7100ft. = 2165m.
" " summit overlooking Keeler 8900 = 6700ft. = 2040m.
" " Keeler 5450 = 3650ft = 1115m.
Where the trail ascends the east slope of Cerro Gordo Mt. there is a small lateral valley, between Yucca Valley and Cerro Gordo Mt., in which an interesting case of slope exposure may be seen. It is especially interesting as it appears ^[[insertion]] not only [[/insertion]] to show the lower limit of pinons ^[[insertion]] [[underlined]] Pinus monophylla [[/underlined]] [[/insertion]] as a line of varying altitude, but the yuccas ^[[insertion]] . [[underlined]] Yucca arborescens [[/underlined]] [[/insertion]] actually appear above
