June 20, 1891

About six miles south of Little Lake, Inyo County, Cal.
We left Walkers Ranch this morning at half past six and followed the road southward passing Olancha, Haywe Meadows, [[strikethrough]] Goat Ranch [[/strikethrough]] Rose Spring, and Little ^[[insertion]] Owens [[/insertion]] Lake; and made a dry camp at this point.
About a mile south of Little Lake the axle of my wagon broke, and I mended it with bars of iron and baling wire so that it could be ridden.
The country traversed was similar to that passed over yesterday, as far as [[strikethrough]] Goat Sheep Ranch [[/strikethrough]] Rose Spring. Here the [[underlined]] Larreas [[/underlined]] began to cover the ground except the lowest portions of the valleys. The growth of them is very healthy and large, and there is little else than [[underlined]] Franseria dumosa [[/underlined]] among them.
Altitude reading at camp this morning (6:30) 4630 = 3700ft. = 1120m
[[underlined]] Yucca [[strikethrough]] s [[/strikethrough]] arborescens [[/underlined]] begins (7:15) 4700 = = 3800 = 1160 m
Hawee Meadows (10:00) 4725 = 3800 = 1160 m.
Rose Spring (11:20) 4550 = 3545 = 1080 m.
