<<drawing of cliff - limestone overlying red shale>>

It varies in thickness from 10
to 30 feet. Contains many
fossils. The upper portion is
a sandstone holding lamellibranch
shells.
X1 mile N.N.W. the limestone is
not over 1 foot thick but a
thick band of gypsiferous +
arenaceus shales replaces
it. Near the base a few

The fossils occur in the impure
limestone, sandstone, arenaceous
shale with gypsum, laminated
layers alternating of gypsum +
sand + argillaceous shale. [[Impure?]]
argillaceous limestone with
fossils replaced by gypsum.

A section on the west side of
the Kanab wash taken from the
base of the Shinarump Conglomerate.
The upper surface of the shale
was eroded prior to the deposition
of the overlaying conglomerate
as may be seen in most good
exposures of the line of contact
of the Conglomerate and shaly
sandstone.
The entire section was
carefully measured with
the exception of 75 feet of
the lower red marl.
