Fine micaceous sand occurs in the summit. [[on the hont..gs?]] The lower band [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] is essentially a repetition of the upper in lithological characters & the same trilobites bead [[sn?]] was observed in each. The canalline mottlings occur in the lower half chiefly, altho' seen to the summit.

This band is a portion of the Tonto group and carries the Primordial up to the sandstone. It is broken up into several bands by shaly partings, usually [[aranaceous?]], and/or again subdivided into massive strata evenly bedded

Found Trilobitic remains lingula and Hyolithes in 3 also in base of (2.) [[diagonal line through this paragraph]]

The hard, calcaneous sandstone at the base of the Tonto group rises to the N. E. going up the river above the mouth of the Kanab Cavern.  About 1/2 mile above it is 5-0 feet above
