Partial section taken on the East side of the canon about 5 miles from the Colorado. Oct 27"
1. Gray (light) limestone, resting beneath banded cherty limestone. A carefull search did not show any fossil remains that could be identified as such.   85

sandstone, friable, stained purple, with a few limestone layer in the central portion.  35
G. This band of sandstone forms a shelf which extends all along the cliffs on each side of the canon & also the Colorado canon above it rises the [[a sheer?]] cliff.
