The national Colors run up
amid the Cheers of the whole Company accompanied by the firing of guns.
A Noon Salute given - As 12 o'clock night approached all hands engaged in [[insertion]] preparations to give [[/insertion]] the parting salute of the end of the Fourth of July 1860.
Twelve O'clock - & the devoted Sons of Freedom here near the Arctic Circle joined in [[strikethrough]] [[illegible]] [[/strikethrough]] that salute which was one that would do honor to any American - at Home or abroad.
Long will we remember the celebration as participated in by us of the "George Henry" - not an accident but the one of "Old Sebastopol" (which proved a fortunate one) occurred.

I will now proceed to give the way we celebrated the 4th from eight O'clock

evening to 10 minutes before twelve. We had arrived at a [[insertion]] point [[/insertion]] [[strikethrough]] West [[/strikethrough]] of [[insertion]] the [[/insertion]] Greenland [[insertion]] Coast [[/insertion]] about 5 O'Clock this eve which had very much the appearance of being within the vicinity of Holsteinburg. The wild mountain peaks being thickly enveloped in Clouds it was impossible to determine whether that [[strikethrough]] town [[/strikethrough]] place was here or not. The Sea was also covered with fogs. It was finally concluded judicious after firing for pilots & in case of this not appearing to leave our position wh. was very near a high mountain & run [[insertion]] far [[/insertion]] out into the strait & lie to.
Eight O'clock found us far out - & more it found us with fish lines over the sides of the George Henry fishing for "Cod". By the time 12 O'clock was near, three lines had drawn in [[strikethrough]] very near [[/strikethrough]] [[insertion]] full [[/insertion]] 800lbs of large Cod-fish & Halibut the former [[insertion]] largely [[/insertion]] predominating.
