At three O'Clock this P.M. we were presented to Governor Elberg who received us kindly & warmly.
    Captain Buddington had met him before, therefore, my way to this dignitary was [[underlined]] direct & short.[[/underlined]]
After an hour's convivial interview with the Governor, Capt. B. left,[[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]]having placed me under the care of the little Danish gentleman whose dictum is law in the region around about Holsteinborg.
Governor Elberg will never cease to have a warm place in my heart's reminiscences.
If I had been President of the United States, I could not have not been more generously - hospitably cared for -
I will write more at length of this days interview in a few days.
