Capt. B.- Went to the Lieut Governors wifes fathers House - Dancing by the Esquimaux in their Costumes & the American Sailors - Custom [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] for scores of years for Greenland to Go to Church AM & PM - & after 4 o'clock [[insertion]] PM [[/insertion]] when Sunday has [[strikethrough]] have [[/strikethrough]] ceased with them to dance.
Returned to "Geo Henry". There Capt & I dressed up to visit the Government dance-House - Met Governor - Priest's wife - Miss Bulow - Lt. Gov - - with Governor went into dance House - In a building the dance [[insertion]] room [[/insertion]] feet long 18 feet wide 30 feet high some of the time 150 people crowded into it including those who are dancing.
Young [[insertion]] Miss [[/insertion]] Bulow participated in the dance - also Lt. Gov. - The Gov. had not for several years - the Priest & wife never.
After a while Gov invited Capt B. & myself to a tea-party - the [[Bumper?]] of Miss Bulow!  Asked the Gov. when Sunday ceased with them & when it began. Began Sat Eve & ended Sunday 4 [[end page]]

P.M. - Seeing the Priests wife busily engaged in netting lace I asked the Gov if the Esquimaux were at liberty to work after 4 o'clock? No No certainly not.  Then how is it that the Government dance House was opened for Balls after this time!  'O, that was not work' said the good Gov Elbery.
Soon I asked if it was customary for ladies of his dominions to amuse themselves as Madam Kjer [[strikethrough]] after 4 o'clk [[/strikethrough]] who was [[insertion]] then engaged in [[/insertion]] netting [[insertion]] a [[/insertion]] beautiful [[strikethrough]] parting [[/strikethrough]] pattern of lace? Certainly!  Certainly!
