Dear Lou, - It was good to get your letter. I hardly know what to advise - the housing shortage in N.Y. (as every place is) is terrific - don't think there is any thing to be had - possibly a cold water flat on the lower East side.
We are about 100 miles out on Long Island three hours on the train. Have been here thru the winter and we like it. We have 5 acres a house and a barn which I'm having moved and will convert into a studio. The work is endless - and a little depressing at times. - but I'm glad to get away from 57th Street for a while. We are paying $5000 for the place. Springs is about 5 miles out of East Hampton (a very swanky wealthy summer place). - and there are a few artists - writers etc. out during the summer. There are a few places around here at about the same price.
