But the strike at MOMA is a good indication that the old museum order is crumbling. Why should art be controled by people who have not dedicated their lives to art? Art that turns away from physical production to abstract consumation, strikes me as reactionary. Museums are too much about "collecting" objects and not enough about developing the resources of substanial art. Art should be an ongoing development that reaches all classes. As it is now artists are treated like colonials, who are systematically ripped off. Of course, there are artists who support this reactionary condition by making abstract paintings and sculpture that can be converted into an exchange currency by the ruling powers.
