On this page and other pages in this notebook, the text following each listed species is transcribed as '5' but it could be an 's' in each case. In comparing the questioned text to '5' written in other contexts (e.g. '15-20' and '5-6 titmice' on this page)there are clear differences. In earlier notebooks, the (5) seems to be more of a 5 than an 's'. In some places there were (15) and (25). In a couple of places there seemed to be a (3), although this could be messy handwriting. A bird expert would need to be consulted to see what it actually is and what it represents.
