Keiley sent word could not come having conference on account of time lost this afternoon.  Well served dinner very imposing flowers on table. Westin had come notwithstanding his busy work. I made a speech of introduction which seemed to have much

success and in which I never mentioned word Bakelite. then spoke Sabersky, Hooter, Hasslacher, Anthony, Evans, van Sentiren, Whitney Herreshoff. we sang die Waelt am Rhein, Auld lang syne. A very jolly, yet dignified evening where everybody seemed to be brimfull with good will towards me. I made a little speech, extolling the spirit of solidarity of the Universities here. which seemed to please. Then we broke the rule of the house committee on responsibility of van Senteren who escorted the whole party thru all the rooms of the building.
