Visited Stanford University. certainly an unusual exception as to magnitude and size of buildings Badly injured by last earthquake which seems to have left here more of an impression than ever in Frisco. Ruins next to most beautiful buildings. Chemistry building a fine very well equipped institute which can stand comparison with the best I ever saw. Fine collection of trees. Palm trees everywhere. Came back in Frisco at about 3:30 PM. Paid check 48.50$ for hotel expenses at St. Francis.  Took supper at hotel then drove to station 8:20PM.

Found remains of freight wreck of day before. Bad equipment slow train, electric fans and electric lights that do not work. [[margin]] Sashta Springs[[margin]] Winding and winding railroad, [[underlined]]Sashta Springs[[/underlined]] cool spot, water spouting from everywhere, pretty waterfalls and cascades. Trees bigger and bigger. Enormous rocks on left side called Castle Crags then
