94 Aug 10. Herty left here early in morning. I drove him to station. Car runs very poorly. Coming home dictated more letters. Went to New York to met [[underline]] Mr.Creevey[[underline]] at office of Hasslacher at 2 ^[[30]] P.M. He makes good impression for a lawyer. Does not seem tricky. We seemed to agree along lines of argument set forward in letter I wrote him. Had to explain in detail the whole [[underline]]Protal Co [[/underline]] situation and their lack of business-management. Left there at 4.P.M. Went to [[underline]]Hooker[[/underline]] office. Found both Hookers in. Looked over contract [[underline]]Siemens & Halske[[/underline]] and amended it. Left with [[end page]] [[start page]] 95 [[margin]] X 1/3 [[margin]] E. H. Hooker at about 6 P.M. Charge 1/3 day Went for supper at Mouguins. Has been raining all day. Aug 11. Fine weather but somewhat humid. Wrote letter to [[underline]] Creevey [[/underline]], [[underline]] Hasslacher [[/underline]] and [[underline]] Peters [[underline/]] relative yesterday's conference.[[margin]]Thurlow neglects[[margin]] Yesterday I gave [[underline]]Thurlow to understand that I was not satisfied about the way he neglected to do the work on self-lubricating bearings which [[/underline]] I asked him to do. Seems to have had some effect. Is busy to day. Got a [[underline]] repeat-order from [[underline]] [[strikethrough]] [[Welber]] [[strikethrough]] [[underline]] [[Welsbach?]] for 1/2 barrel varnish! [[/underline]] Spent part afternoon regulating carburetor on car. It now runs well. Found then that rear brake is out of order. [[end page]]
