Aug 30. At 1[[underline]]30[[/underline]] went to Greevey's office. he dictated further text of agreement General Bakelite Co. Went to University Club thence for supper Mouquin took 8[[underline]]30[[/underline]]PM train home.

Aug. 31. [[underline]] Month closes with over $1200. [[/underline]] sales. [[underline]] highest rendered yet.  [[/underline]]

There has been steady and considerable increase. I [[underline]] feel much encouraged of this. [[/underline]] Up till now I [[underline]]have not started to introduce Bakelite and have been much handicapped in my work. [[/underline]] -At 2PM met Hasslacher, Greevey and Dubois. about agreement. [[underline]] Things seem to go well [/underline]] . [[underline]] Hasslacher says they need no financial help. Have more money dispensible among their own stockholders than they can use. I asked them whether I should let in percentages. [[/underline]]

the [[Barret?]] Mfg Co, or some banking interest for future development. [[strikethrough]] they say no [[/strikethrough]]. Hasslacher says no. Says they are even willing to take remaining $60.000 if I have any difficulty in placing same. Then I had meeting at 42 Wall street with [[underline]] Dr. Wiechman [[/underline]] . I told him situation of Protal Co., that we would not go ahead with the crushing amount of expenses. we had [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] or that the company would be exhausted long before it was in paying basis. He took it all in a gentlemanly way. and agrees with me. Seems reconciled to idea of dropping his salary alho' we know that this means everything for him. I dreaded this meeting as I had to tell him unpleasant things. but everything turned out well. He accompanied me to the station. I came home with 6[[underline]]22[[/underline]]PM train rather satisfied with the days work.
