Interview Townsend and Brickenstein all morning. They say we should not divulge every detail of our arguments to [[red pencil underline]] Condensite [[/red pencil underline]] men. but limit ourselves to my printed latest publication. Afternoon went to [[red pencil underline]] Bureau of Standards [[/red pencil underline]] to meet [[red pencil underline]] D[[^r]]. Rosa [[/red pencil underline]] by appointment but when I came there he was just gone but left word that whole matter was in hands of D[[^r]].[[red pencil underline]] Curtiss [[/red pencil underline]]. The latter showed me curves obtained with different materials, indi-

cating . surface leakage and conductivity of different substances: and showing that [[red pencil underline]] Bakelite compositions are not so good as hard rubber in this respect[[/red pencil underline]] except in presence of very damp atmosphere. (See my letter to Bureau of Standards on this subject. I asked about curve of [[red pencil underline]] condensite [[/red pencil underline]] and he said it is about the same as [[red pencil underline]] bakelite [[/red pencil underline]]. to which I replied that it ought to be the same. Then he showed me a disc of some new material he had just received. I looked at it and [[strikethrough]] it looke [[/strikethrough]] on examination found it to be [[red pencil underline]] bakelite C. [[/red pencil underline]]I asked whether he got it from [[red pencil underline]] [[Kansas?]] [[/red pencil underline]] [[pencil note in bottom margin]] Redmanol [[/note in bottom margin]]. He said
