All rivers to the south flowed westward
Through gorges to the Tennessee valley  
All rivers north from the James 
Flow eastward through gaps to the Atlantic  
Views from this rock thrust are tremendous  
But so was the effort to get here  
Two upward miles from the shelter.  
Then upward another half mile or so  
To high level ridgetop and more viewpoints  
The weather is breezy and damp and cool  
Passed the spot where Ottie Powell's 
Body was found in 1891. He had strayed
seven miles from a school house age 4ys 7 mons  
Bluff Mtn tower has been removed  
The view of valley farmlands to west is aerial 
Easy Trail to Pedlar Dam - Lunchburg [^water] supply  
Yes the rickety old bridge is replaced
