The opening on the 3 sides of the steel towers according to Mr Ropers measurment, is about 1/32 of an inch average
and 6 inches long while on the six inch steam whistle it is 18 inches long and at least 1/32 of an inch in width if 
not more Hence under the same pressure the power to blow the whistle will be three times as great but the whistle 
was not heard as far with nearly double the pressure
