[[underlined]] May 4 [[/underlined]] (Sunday) Beautiful day.  went with motor car to bring [[underlined]] Dr. Camiel De Bruyne [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] van Warneke [[/underlined]] (both delegates of Ghent to peace commission) to Yonkers.  and then back to New York Supper at University Club van Werneke speaks no english and is very countrified and unprepared - much of a hayseed who knows nothing of the world outside of his little Ghent. [[underlined]] De Bruyne [[/underlined]] is the same fine good chap as I

have known at the University of Ghent - 30 years ago.
May 5.  Went to Holland American Line to change tickets of [[underlined]] DeBruyne [[/underlined]] Then lunched with Porter of R.B.P. Co met the Nichols ^ [[insertion]] sons [[insertion]] at Down Town Club Ditto Brush and Taylor of Mathesein Alkali Co.  Porter objects of engaging [[underliend]] Dr. Hamlin [[/underlined]] if the latter is just about to marry.  Then conversation with Hugo Dubois.  May gave me license of [[underlined]] Darmard Co [[/underlined]] to sign.  Got my samples together preparatory to my trip to Chicago.  Took 5 P.M train home.
May 6.  Busy all day dictating and lab.  Reading "Comrade Yetta".  Sales are $24000 for the month.  Frank [[underlined]] L. Dyer [[/underlined]] came to see me.  [[underlined]] DeMuth [[/underlined]] now seems very friendly and satisfied  Lunched with [[underlined]] Dyer [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] Dubois[[/underlined]] Missed train Perth Amboy.  Met [[underlined]] Bullard [[/underlined]] and his friend Kennedy
