Told him this is not possible in as far as China is open country for all licenses of bakelite.  He accepted my explanation and is writing now for confirmation etc. 
Went to Chemists Club Met [[underscore red]] [[?]] at his [[?]] motored together to his laboratory in Greenpoint an old stable where he showed me his ^experimental^ plant for cracking petroleum oil in C2H4 and making C2H4Cl2 of it. Says his yield is 70% of raw oil.  Motored back to Yonkers in time to take Celine and Nna at the

Oct 19 (Sunday) Home all day Spent morning planning alterations at the house. Afternoon call of Gordon Superintendent of Schools asking for contribution to catholic hospital.  Told him I had no enthusiasm for such a distinctly unamerican sectarian organization.  Celine and children to New Rochelle at meeting of some [[ladies?]].  Violent rain during night.
Oct 20. Miss Evans ill.  Got my [[underscore red]] first bakelite fountain pen [[/underscore  red]] (Parker) and writing these notes with it.  I do know know whether its the weather but I feel very nervous and restless.  Very busy in Laboratory
