For Prize Contest,

I live in a small Western town where there is a good sprinkling of alkali in the soil and but little rain.

Six years ago I started a garden out of mild land, no real knowledge of seed, soil, fertilizers or cultivation.

My garden is confined to that which I like best; mostly sweet-peas.
I have used Burpee's seed every year. To make sure of the best I have tried other houses giving equal care to each. Now, I use only Burpee's.

My first seasons results were rather meager. I went to studying your leaflet on "Sweet-Pea Culture" and making an effort to raise something worth while. The more I studied and worked the more fascinating it became.
