W. Atlee Burpee Co.,

Gentlemen - For several years I have used your garden seeds with very good succes, finding them true to form - This year my vegetables all look well but my "Everbearing Peas" seem to merit special mention, as they are loaded with well filled pods with promise of keeping on, as their name indicates. - This has been a backward season, dry at first & very cool but my lettuce is fine, beets and carrots looking well and tomatoes thrifly, giving promise of much fruit. The perpetual cucumbers are bearing freely.

It may not be amiss to tell you, that I have a nervous disease; akin to Socomotor Ataxia or St. Vitus Dance (head never still) that baffles the Drs., but in spite of it, I manage to care for a large garden alone, and feel proud of my success.

Sincerely Yours,
Charles E. Abbott,
Union Street,
Newport, Vermont.

Transcription Notes:
The actual formatting of the letter isn't normally required to be transcribed. However this is a judgement call (marginal notes etc). I personally don't think its necessary in this case and so have edited. But if you disagree please feel free to edit back. Transcription Centre would like the later additions of the circled number and the date stamp transcribed separately from the text of the letter.
