How is your garden? or where did you buy those lovely plants? neighbours and passersby address me, each summer, some of which are surprised. my raising all from seed, it being usual thing here, buying plants by dozen. from local nurseries:
This year wanting a large flower family, having a late spring: therefore: Burpees seeds, again, being the best. then 8.[[superscript]] th [[/superscript]] May before daring plant them, owing to nightly frosts now. July! What a garden! borders of [[strikethrough]] P [[/strikethrough]] verbenas 4 colors 184 plants all from 4 packets. beds of phlox 6 colors. uncountable Balsam 36 lovely plants from 5.[[superscript]] c [[/superscript]] packet. Sweetpeas those dainty flowers having perfume as well as beauty: Pansies. best ever grown, although took prizes last couple years' at flowershow: Dahlias from seed. 60 beautiful plants. cactus, pompon, decorative, as large as ones from bulbs. Then Scabiosa, Escholtzia and Shirley Poppies. Candytuft. Calliopsis. lovely Snapdragon all giants 6 colors without which no garden is complete. for perfume Mignonette. Nicotani + Heliotrope, and crego asters for flowers till almost wintertime 102 plants from 1 packet: As a further test of Burpees seeds. some 10 weeks stock and mammoth beautys seed. over from [[double underline]]last year produced 211 p[[/double underlined]]lants all healthy.
