last farewell. Not only white handkerchiefs were floating in the air, but American flags, red and blue handkerchiefs, and one bunch of flowers had
been hoisted up on a cane, and was waving backward and forward above the peoples
heads. It was a very pretty sight indeed; and the people on the ship answered back the signals by waveing the flowers they had, which were very numerous. And so the steamer, steamed out of the
harbor of New York, and we left our friends behind, when to see them again? That none of ^[[insertion]] us [[/insertion]] can tell.

them. I think my room is the prettiest. It is quite large. The walls are of a pretty color a blue stuff about three quarters ways up. Then
there is a narrow edge of white wood, and above a delicate colored pink stuff.
The ceiling is white, and the woodwork is light
colored. The sofa is near the door and on the next wall is a wardrobe really very big for the ship. On each side of this are two little drawers and under a small cupboad. There
is also a little [[overwritten]] dress [[/overwritten]] bureau, a looking glass and
a washstand.
It is the most conveniant and pretty room I have ever had before.

Siobhan:- I think the numbers are hand written. You don't need to start the first page nor end the last page with [[new page]] [[end page]]. That's only used when moving from one page to next in same image - as above. Hope this helps.
