Aunt Bettie and her husband came to dinner, but we had ours alone.

May 26th. 1890 Monday
It is rainy, so that after lesson we could not go out.
We went to the Hippodrome. Mama, Papa, the boys, Fraulein and last but not least Baby.  It was the first time she has been to the circus and she was

delighted with it.
Some of the horses they have are very nice especially one beauty that danced.  He was chestnut color, and had the loveliest action.  The trapese was good, it always seems to be in Paris.  One woman hung by her toes and held another woman by her [[blank space]] teeth [[blank space]]by a cord fastened round her waist.  It was really dreadful, and I would not have believed it if I had not seen it with my own eyes.

After we came home, I took a little walk in the Tuilleries as I had been unable to walk on account of the rain all day.
