72 on deck and had a far nicer time than before. It was very calm and the sun shone as brightly as possible. We arrived at London at about 8. Jack and Jill (my birds) were very good travellers, but naturally rather fright ned at the cars and [[boats?]]. I feel dreadfully that they should have to live even for a short time in the little bit of a cage I bought them in, and now that I am in London I intend to b[[insertion]]u[[/insertion]]y a large cage tomorrow. [[end page]] [[start page]] 73 June 10th 1890. Tuesday. A very nice day for London, and the boys Martha and I went to the Serpentine to row. Coming home I bought a very nice cage for Jack and Jill, and was delighted to have the pleasure of taking them out of the little cage. It rained so this afternoon that I could only get measured at Nicoles, & go to the Grosvenor Gal[[insertion]]l [[/insetion]] ery. Some of the pictures were very pretty and well painted, but a good many I thought just the contrary.
