Friday we rode.  That is Alfred, Willie Post, Willing Spencer & Arthur Benden & myself. We left the house at half past eleven Willie & I first & just behind the rest.  We took the ride easy, for 7 miles on a warm day at that hour is more than you think.  Arthur Spencer, Regi, Martha and Fraulein went in the rockaway.  When we got there I dressed, and we then began to set the table ourselves.  We all (not M.) sat down together, but I was on my feet most of the time, for the boys would not stire and if I did not help them, they would have been to lazy to eat.

Willing & Willie were especially bad.  I had almost to hold their glases when they drank.  So I was the waitress & if was "Gertrude" here & "Gertrude" there, so that I could hardly eat at all. Right after lunch the boys all tore off to see the thrashing machine, and Fraulein and I followed at a short distance.  They rolled about in the hay for some time and then we walked back.  Arthur L. walked with me, and was very nice, he tried to induce me to go to the paper hunt that the boys were going to have, but I did not care to.  He always had something for me to do for him, either to keep his four leaf
