We loaded [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] Lloyd's skiff with the baggage and [[strikethrough]] road [[/strikethrough]] rowed about a mile and a quarter up the river against a head sea and landed, pulling the boat up on the beach. We pitched the tent, made things ready and gathered some firewood. We made a fire in front of the tent and fried our supper - bacon, potatoes and bread. Later we went to bed and slept on the ground in the tent. During the night I woke up about fifteen times and it was cold.
