The day has been rather dark for me to paint to advantage. Edward had been absent all day attending to the sale of his hay.

[[underlined]] Thursday 20.[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N 85. & made 3 lb of mould candles &c Edwards men have been thrashin with the machine all day. Mrs. Peale and Mary went this afternoon to see Mrs Levan who was very sick yesterday but today she is much better, they took tea there.

[[underlined]] Friday 21.[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N 85. Took Mary to the landing to go up in the carrs to Potte. to stay a few days. It has been drizzling all day w

[[underlined]] Saturday 22[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N 85. Edward has been all day with his men bailing hay.

[[underlined]] Monday 24.[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 85. Thomas Walker & James Patterson came down this afternoon shot 6 or 8 Partridges & a Rabbit. Mr. Parson called to see if Edward would spare the old shaker of the thrashing machine for his son. Mrs. Peale, Louisia & Fanny went to S. Haven took supper at Mr. Snyders, got home late.

[[underlined]] Tuesday 25.[[/underlined]] I painted a good part of the day on N 85. Theopolis Thompson and his Mother Charlet came this morning & spent the day with us. Edward and his men took the Hay-press to Mr. [[Roys?]] farm to bale it that he has bought from him, having finished that up Long Run. got a letter last evening from Burd dated Aldie Nov. 17 about 28 miles from Fairfax Courthouse Va.
