and had it repaired near Orwigsburg. Eddy & Malcom sleeps here tonight. [[Edward]] Hubley came down with Edward. This has been the most pleasant day we had had for some time. 
7°. calm clear. 36°. calm w clear. 10° calm, clear.
[[underlined]] Tuesday 24th.[[/underlined]]Mr. Graef sat this morning to Mary, but was interupted by company. Dr. & Mrs. Atwater & 3 children came in a sleigh. Mr. & Mrs. Graef, Miss M[[e? c?]]. Kindley & 3 children. Mrs Innis, Mrs. Bealy, Amelia Pott Mrs G. Snider in their sleigh. The last party dined with us & went homes before dark. Eddy & Malcom went home after dinner. Edward took Mary, Louisia & May in the sled to S. H. just before dark, & returned to supper. [[left margin note]] cold.[/margin note]] 0°/4 calm, clear. trees and everything coated with ice. 33° calm e slight snow for a little while. 26°. calm e thin clouds.
[[underlined]] Wednesday 25.[[/underlined]] I painted the greater part of the day on N. 8[[6 ?]] and finished it. Mary had no sitters today. she and May went this afternoon to S. Haven for papers & letters. 9°. calm, clear. trees covered with ice. 44°. w clear. 29° calm clo 9 [[?]] [[?]]
[[underlined]] Thursday 26.[[/underlined]] I painted all day on N. 87. Mary had no sitters today, it being rainy & very muddy. Edward Hubley purchased two fine bee hives at $5. each from Mr. Orwig. 
33°. calm e mist. 47°. calm e drizzly. 37°. calm dence fog.
[[underlined]] Friday 27th.[[/underlined]] I painted the greater part of the day on N 87. Mary painted all the morning on Burdees picture. Edward went to Potte. this morning he brought home the block from Mr. Elliotts. George has been hauling coal all day from the landing Edward had a carr load brought from [[?]] & Pattersons mines Ashland.

[[underlined]] Saturday 28th [[/underlined]] Edward, Louisia and E. Hubley went to Reading, I took them to the carrs in the spring wagon and brought back a quantity of iron wire that came in the carrs for Edward to bail hay with instead of ropes. E & L will proceed to Phila. he will leave Louisia in Phila. while he goes to N. York & Troy on business. Miss Bast sat to Mary this morning and dined with us after dinner Mary & May took her home in the carriage while I read the papers & washed the brushes.
