I sowed Turnip rooted Beets, Royal head Lettuce with Flat-dutch Cabbage, Salsafy or Oysterplant, Okra or Yombo, Double Parsley, and Early Horn Carrots. planted apart of the Dahlias,

[[underlined]] Friday 24. [[/underlined]] I prepared 2 or 3 Photographs for Mary to hang up Muslin backs, glass trimed with black.
It has been raining all day and no painting going on except Mary trying to take a likeness of Pussy, but she didnot sit well.

[[underlined]] Saturday 25. [[/underlined]] I have worked nearly all day in the garden, planted the greater part of the Dahlias, cleaned up the walks about the [[houses ?]] &c. I sat to Mary this morning for an Oval picture.  Mr. Francis Hubbley came from Potte. just before dinner. George and Morris cleared the ditch along the road opposite Edwards house preparitory to fixing the new fence.
Mrs. Peale had Mrs. Try and Mrs. Danglock all day whitewashing and cleaning the entry, room next to kitchen and outer one.

[[/underlined]] John Patterson came down just before dinner and Eddy Patterson came after dinner to take up Mrs. Peale to stay while Matilda will be gon, as she is going to New Haven to enter him at School there, she expects to be absent about a week. We have had no other company today. Mr. Hubbley & I have had a long talk about trees, currant, raspberries, grape vines, straw berries &c &c.

[[/underlined]] I have worked in the garden all day. had Mrs. Try digging and I raking & trimming the Lawton Black-berries, planted seed Onions (white) Skinned a sea gull which was brought to me to stuff, shot at S. Haven. Edward took a mowing machine & Horse rake to Orwigsburg. to show to some farmers.
  Mary walked to [[?]] Haven this afternoon to go to Potte. by this evening carrs. Mr. Levan sat to her this morning, she varnished Mr. Graeffs Portrait
Mr. Hubbley went home in this mornings train.
